Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about airports, UK visitor rules, independent accommodation, and how to prepare online first.

When will the first Northern Ireland Immersion Courses take place?
The Northern Ireland 1-to-1 Immersion Course is a future addition to Gareth English, planned for strictly limited seasonal windows in 2027 (Spring, Summer, and Early Autumn). Because I only teach one solo student or duo at a time, priority invitations will go first to current 1-to-1 online students and members of the Priority Waitlist below.
Are accommodation, flights, or transport bundled into the tuition fee?
No. In compliance with the UK Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, Gareth Montgomery provides 1-to-1 English language tuition and guided conversational practice only, and does not sell, arrange, or bundle accommodation, transport, or travel packages. Once your course dates are confirmed, I send you a curated neighbourhood guide of central Belfast hotels, serviced apartments, and coastal B&Bs so you can book your preferred accommodation and travel directly with the provider at zero markup.
Which airports serve Belfast and Northern Ireland?
Northern Ireland is exceptionally well connected:
  • George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD): 10 minutes from central Belfast; direct flights from London Heathrow, London City, Amsterdam, and UK hubs.
  • Belfast International Airport (BFS): 25 minutes from Belfast; direct flights across Europe.
  • Dublin Airport (DUB): 90 minutes south of Belfast via direct 24/7 express coach straight to Belfast Grand Central Station—ideal for direct long-haul flights from North America, the Middle East, and major European capitals.
Do I need a UK Student Visa for a 4- to 10-day immersion course?
Under UK Immigration Rules (Appendix V: Visitor), international visitors can undertake short recreational or English language courses of up to 30 days (and up to 6 months) under standard visitor entry without needing a Student Visa. Non-visa nationals (including EU/EEA, Swiss, US, Canadian, Japanese, and South Korean citizens) simply obtain a digital UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) online before travelling (including when travelling into Northern Ireland via Dublin Airport).
Who is eligible to attend, and can I bring my partner or a colleague?
Courses are designed exclusively for adults aged 18+ at intermediate-to-advanced levels (CEFR B1+ to C2). You are very welcome to attend as a 2-to-1 Duo with a partner, spouse, or colleague of a similar English level (saving ~26% per person on tuition), or to bring a non-studying partner who shares your independently booked hotel or B&B.
